- I was raised around horses and livestock for all of
my life. Actively involved in horse shows, 4-H and FFA growing up and continuing with horse shows as I became an adult, I developed a love for animals, as well as an "eye" when judging them. I also trained horses professionally for several years. These experiences gave me a base with which I could build on and which has helped me in evaluating goats and in building my herd.
- I got my first goat as a pet and it grew from there.
In 2008 I started building my herd and the first kids were born in 2009. I am very proud of how far my herd has come since then. Financially I can't buy the best of the best. I have had to be strict about the animals that come into my herd and the ones that stay. Making some tough choices, I have always bought and sold my animals to bring me closer to my goal of a herd of very quality Nigerian Dwarf goats.

- Don't be fooled by the reasonable prices here at Hoofin'
it Ranch. My prices are on the low side for goats of this quality. This is because of the current economic situation of our nation. As demand for the goats grows, which it will, and as the financial situation reverses, the prices will go up accordingly.
- When you purchase a goat from Hoofin' It Ranch, you
can rest assured you are getting a healthy goat first and foremost. I have tested for CAE since the beginning and for CL and Johnes since 2010. The last negative test was in March 2011 and another test will be performed at the beginning of 2012. These tests will be performed annually to ensure that my goats are free of CAE, CL and Johnes. I also only purchase goats from tested and clean herds. No goat is allowed on my property unless negative test results can be shown.
- The goats here are kept on a diet that is as organic as
possible. They are given mineral supplements to ensure health and longevity. I also worm my goats herbally; the environment in Nevada is very conducive to using herbs as a prevention. The goats are also given free choice grass hay and alfalfa pellets; with the milkers receiving extra grain as needed to maintain body condition.
- A happy goat is one that can browse and gets exercise;
therefore my goats are allowed out of their pens at least 4 times a week to browse in the desert lands surrounding my house. This gives them mental stimulation, as well as helps them nutrionally.
- Another benefit of purchasing a goat from Hoofin' It
Ranch is that you can rest assured that the goat you bring home is well socialized and friendly. All of the goats here are given plenty of attention and all of the kids are bottle raised, ensuring healthy, well-adjusted and friendly kids.
- The does at Hoofin' It Ranch are used for milking each
and every day. They provide my household with milk for yogurt, cheese, soap making and for coffee of course! I hand milk all of my does and this gives me intimate knowledge of each goat. This enables me to best find a goat to suit YOUR needs and also to be able to best describe the does' qualities; both good and bad. First and foremost, my does are for milking and they are expected to perform as such. To help with my assessments of each goat, I also participate in Linear Appraisal, this ensures your goat is sound and of quality stock.
- When you purchase a goat from Hoofin' it Ranch, you
get the benefit of a knowledgeable breeder who is willing to help you through the learning curve to best ensure you have healthy goats, as well as terrific companions that will keep you smiling all year.
- And finally - you get to bring home a wonderful pet and
an enchanting addition to your family!!
